The Role: Data Scientist/ML Engineer
Position Overview
As a Data Scientist/ML Engineer within the GADS team at PayPal, you will play a pivotal role in developing and scaling data science and machine learning solutions that enhance our products and services. This position involves working on horizontal projects that support vertical data science teams, focusing on creating scalable and impactful data-driven solutions. Your work will directly influence the customer experience and contribute to PayPal’s mission of being a data-driven, customer-focused company.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Development and Scaling:
- Create, scale, and monitor data science and machine learning solutions using advanced algorithms and technologies such as Python, PySpark, SQL, and Spark.
- Work closely with software engineers to push solutions into production and manage their lifecycle effectively.
Collaboration with Product Teams:
- Partner with product teams to address client needs and identify new opportunities for horizontal projects within PayPal GADS.
- Develop solutions that optimize and enhance existing products, and identify new possibilities for innovation.
Data Analysis and Modeling:
- Utilize your expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP) to create robust models and solutions.
- Analyze large, complex datasets to generate actionable insights and drive decision-making processes.
Keeping Abreast of Innovations:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science and machine learning.
- Apply new technologies and methods to improve existing solutions and explore new opportunities.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
- Experience: Over 4 years of hands-on experience in developing and deploying data science and machine learning models.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, PySpark, Spark, Hadoop/Hive, SQL, and BigQuery. Experience with machine learning, deep learning, and NLP is highly desirable.
- Analytical Ability: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze large, multi-dimensional datasets and create actionable recommendations.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
